IEM is one of the oldest management institutes under West Bengal University of Technology in the private sector.  It was established in the year 1989. The college has adopted the vision of providing its students value based state-of-art management education with equal emphasis on extra-curricular activities. The stress  is more on applications based studies.  The students passing out of this college are trained to be successful managers and entrepreneurs. 
The college boasts of spacious air-conditioned classrooms, state-of-art audio visual aids, a very well stocked library,  a modern computer lab and recreational facilities. The college organizes management events and seminars, invites eminent speakers from Industry, encourages the student to participate in management festivals and seminars in other organizations and organizes visits of students to industry. It encourages its faculty to undertake research, organize MDP courses and participate in faculty development programs with a view to enrich them.
